- AboutThey say all great ideas begin with a vision. In the late fall of 1985, Todd Semmes stood at the 6,500 ft. level of Mt. Hood with a clear view of the southwest of a massive storm blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. He wondered if Mt. Hood would take a direct hit, and what problems that would bring to the ski area he was patrolling that day. He questioned if his idea for better ski patrol parkas and bibs was viable and why was no one was making them. Todd was an accomplished mountaineer and outdoor adventurer, well respected by the Mt. Hood alpine community. As the ski patrol members risked their well-being and lives–they deserved to expect the best gear and equipment available. In 1986 Todd and his wife, Kathy, began their own company, Airtime, in Hood River, Oregon, to design and manufacture the products they had envisioned. Their simple objective was to make the best-designed, highest-quality and best-performing custom outerwear they could. This worked better than they expected and soon they had many of the area ski patrols using Airtime’s products.
